The drivers install fine (as reported by the device manager),
but the cards won't connect to the network. I am able to ping
the local machine (gee...), but cannot see any other machines
on the network.
I have seen the cards used with Windows, but the driver was
labeled "Generic NE2000". Thus far, I have been unable to
locate this driver.
I know the cards work, since I am using them with Linux
(using the generic NE2000 driver).
Can anyone point me to the correct driver?
Thanks
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can download the newest Realtek 8029 drivers from www.realtek.com.tw I
have no problems with windows98 now.
Anyone know what could be the problem in 95 ??
I get a message about having bad EEPROM at my card, but I tried to switch
them, and got the message at the same machine, so it has to be Win95.
Also, is there some "standard" driver for NE2000 compatible cards ??

The reason that some people can't get thier PCI cards to work, is that Win98
has a PnP bug. Whether you have a problem or not depends on what hardwre you
have. To fix this, go into your BIOS, and disable the: "PnP OS installed".
This will enable the BIOS to decide which hardware should have which
ressources.

For all interested, I solved my problem. I loaded the "Generic NE2000"
driver provided with Windows 98, and everything worked fine. It just
took a while to find it: it's listed in the Novell/Anthem section of
network adapters.
