tcpip access to a local LAN server brings up Win95 DUN

We have a smtp/pop3 mail server on our network which I access from my station
using eudora or outlook. When I try to conect to the pop server (it is
specfied by IP not name) which is local. My DUN dialog appears asking if I
want to connect. The mail check proceeds fine and I have to cancel the DUN.

How do I inform WIN95 that a particular IP is Local.
