I've found that the event log shows the msg "NetBT_4319_E: A duplicate
name has been detected on the TCP network". The application hangs are
totally random and happens around 1% of the number of machines, others
work fine, and the machines that stuck with the application problem,
those too works fine if the service is simply restarted.
Now my question here is that as soon as NETBT_4319 message is being
generated, what will be the status of the ip address for that machine
and within how long this ip conflict is resolved?
Also, can anybody tell whether the application hangs may be because of
this ip conflict? [i dont have any trace or proof except i know that
it hangs when the client is trying to communicate with the server
[both client and server are on the same machine]]
Thanks
Satish
Two platforms on the MAN/LAN have the same computer NAME. On one of the two
platform, add an additional character to resolve the problem.

But there is no same names that two computers have, in the network,
then why is this comming? There is no manual action taken, will this
somehow gets resolved?
[I believe there is nothing to be resolved as there is absolutely no
duplicate names on the network!]
Finally what is the consequence of this problem, i mean, impact on the
applications?
Thanks

Are you really, really, REALY sure there are no duplicates ?
Based upon the OS, you might want to go to the Microsoft news server at:
news.microsoft.com and find an appropriate forum and repost your query.
