Nobody likes a computer that doesn't run right. Nobody likes slow
Internet speeds, having your system freeze or even crash. What's
happening when you get the start up message "system 32 error" or even
the dreaded "blue screen of death"? Chances are that you've got a
corrupt registry in your computer.
Now you are probably asking, "What is a corrupt registry"? "Has my
computer been taking kickbacks from a shady contractor"? No, your
registry has not been taking kickbacks, and no, your computer probably
doesn't have a virus. Your registry is a database that functions as a
guide. The registry tells your computer and the programs in your
computer how to perform and how to interact with each other. A corrupt
registry will give out wrong instructions to the computer and its
programs causing your system to run in an inefficient manner.
The next question you are probably asking is "How did I get a
corrupted registry"? There can be several reasons for this. Chances
are that if you lost power and your computer was shut down improperly,
the communication chain between the registry and the files or programs
running at that time was lost. When Windows is shut down normally, the
registry and the files or programs running, shake hands and say
goodbye nicely. The computer then shuts the door quietly and says
goodnight. When the computer is shut down incorrectly, the door is
slammed shut without a handshake or goodbye. Your registry and the
programs and files suffer from a lack of communication.
Other causes of a corrupted registry are deleting programs and
spyware. Occasionally, when a program is no longer needed and deleted,
some bits and pieces remain in the registry. Spyware intentionally
leaves bits and pieces in your registry so that others can monitor
your computer usage. These bits and pieces eventually add up and slow
your system down. You can think of these bits and pieces floating
around in your registry as plaque in an artery or sludge in an
automobile engine.
Fixing your corrupted registry can be a simple task. If you are
extremely confident in your computer maintenance skills you can delve
into your corrupted registry and manually fix it. If you are not that
confident in your skill set, you can download or buy a registry
cleaner tool kit. Before you do anything to your registry, make sure
that you have a backup of the registry or have a system restore set
point. If your registry cleaner tool kit is too aggressive, it can
clean out instructions in the corrupted registry that are actually
needed. If this happens, you have the registry backup on disc or you
can return your computer to the system restore set point.
Almost 90% of the computers in use have a corrupted registry. The use
of a registry cleaner tool kit will alleviate most of the problems
caused by a corrupted registry. Before you purchase a program to clean
up your registry, do some research. Find out which one will work best
for you. Then use it on a regular basis. Your system will run faster
and provide you with far less problems.
