I've got a WinNT 4.0 (Server) networking question. I'm trying to set up an intranet for a trade show.
However, one of the servers on this network will have an external internet connection. Setting
up the intrAnet is no problem. We've got a hub, all of the systems are plugged into the hub and
can speak all of the necessary protocols (TCP/IP and NETBIOS) to each other. The snag is that
one of the NT servers on this intrAnet wants to be a member of the intrAnet as well as being able
to get out on the Web thru an external internet connection. There is an internet provider for the
show who will provide an IP address and a RJ-45 connector for each external connection we
want. Since we only need one direct connection to the outside world, we decided to make it be
this NT server.

My question is this: How do we make this configuration work so that the NT box can reside and
work on the intrAnet as well as the external internet connection ? Do we need to install a
second network card in the NT box ? I don't have lots of experience with dual homed servers, so
bear with me if this is a newbie question. How will a TCP/IP process know which route to
take (i.e. internal vs. external) ? We will want to hit pages on a Web server on the intrAnet
as well as pages out on the WWW. Any advice/knowledge/insight in this area would be
appreciated. TIA

No sweat. Install a second card, give it an address on the show net, and
turn on routing. Make that server the default gateway for all the machines
on the inside.
