This course is the first in the DigitalThink Microsoft Exchange Server
5.5 Certification Series. MS Exchange Server 5.5, Part 1, in conjunction
with MS Exchange Server 5.5, Parts 2-4, provides students with the
knowledge they need to set up and maintain Exchange Server 5.5 on an
enterprise-level network.
This course helps students prepare for Microsoft Certified Professional
exam 70-081, Implementing and Supporting Exchange Server 5.5. This
course corresponds with the first part of Microsoft Course 973,
Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Series-Design and Implementation.
Course goals
This course will introduce students to the basic concepts of Exchange
Server 5.5, including:
1. Examining features provided by Exchange Server 5.5
2. Installing Exchange Server 5.5
3. Understanding the Exchange Server 5.5 architecture
4. Creating and managing basic types of recipients
Target audience
This course is intended for students who want to learn how to install
Exchange Server 5.5, understand its architecture, and configure its
basic services. In addition, this course is the first of four in the
Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Certification Series, which prepares
students for the Microsoft Certified Professional exam 70-081,
Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5. This exam is
an elective for the MCSE and MCSE + Internet certifications.
Prerequisites
Before taking this course, students should have:
1. A solid understanding of networking concepts, principles, and
practices, such as those presented in DigitalThink's Networking
Essentials course.
2. Working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows NT Server
4.0 interface.
3. A firm grasp of the core technologies of Windows NT Server, as
presented in the DigitalThink courses, Supporting Windows NT 4.0 Core
Technologies, Parts 1 through 3.
