Okay people, I had the same problem after restoring my system. I just fixed
it and I BELIEVE it was one of the following things I did...

First off, I tried installing (and reinstalling) the latest diamond drivers...

A) After trying to find an answer on the web I seemed to come across the
possibility that some controls/libraries weren't registered. Having opened
the .inf file (c:\windows\inf\other\Diamond Multimedia Systems,
Inc.MNSTR2.INF) of the latest Diamond Monster 3D II drivers I found a section
called:

[mnstr2.AddControl]

I noticed about 3 .dlls mentioned there so I tried to (re)register them by
opening a dos box and typing:

c:\windows\system\regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system\MNSTR2PL.DLL
c:\windows\system\regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system\3DFXV2PS.DLL
c:\windows\system\regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system\MNSTR2PS.DLL

the first and last line gave me an error but I just wanna tell you exactly
what I did...

B) I'm not sure if it was fixed at that point, but right after that I went to
the c:\windows\temp folder (where the updated diamond drivers unzip to by
default) in Windows Explorer and right-clicked on the mnstr2.inf file. I then
left clicked on the 'install' option in that context menu.

When I tried to access the desktop display again it worked! Hope this helps
someone..

Here is the original, unreplied to :/, message that I found on here that told
me that I was not alone in this problem...

This has probably been addressed previously in
this group, but I can't find enough specific info
to correct the problem which recently cropped up
during an ill-fated graphics card install.

The problem:

When I right click on Windows 95 desktop, then left click
properties, I get the message "CoCreate Instance Failed -
Class not Registered". If I continue, everything seems to be working OK
as far as I can tell.

I recently added a Diamond Multimedia Monster 3D (4B - Voodoo I)
graphics card to my machine, upgraded to DirectX 6.1 from the Microsoft
site, and all was well. This worked so well that shortly thereafter I got the
bright idea to upgrade the
card to a Diamond Multimedia Monster 3D II (12 MB, Voodoo II).
The Voodoo II card did not work well in my P5-133, so I removed
it and reinstalled the Voodoo I card, which works fine. This is when the
problem started.

I have reinstalled drivers, reinstalled DirectX 6.1, and removed (both
physically and logically in "My Computer"). From previous posts I am led to
believe that my problem lies in the Registry, and a program being accessed
not being listed properly there.

Can anyone tell me the best way to go about correcting this annoyance?

Thanks,

Ed McCullough
