My Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer)used to show files and sub-folders on the right hand side in the traditional manner. It first listed any sub-folders below the current one followed by the files listed in that folder in alphabetical order. Now it is all screwed up. Different folders result in different views. Sometimes (usually) the sub-folders are not listed at all in the right Window with the files. Sometimes the files listed are in order of last used rather the alphabetical order, plus there are other variants as well. I'm sure there must be a global setting in Windows or the Explorer to view the contents in the traditional manner as listed above. Help please

Thanks in advance... Bob

Open one of your folders and adjust everything how you'd like it to
be. Adjust the sort order, the order of the various columns and their
respective widths, add/delete columns to suit your taste, and so on.
Be sure to select the view that you want, such as List, Details,
Icons, etc.

Once you have it how you want it, go to the Tools menu and select
Folder Options. In there, select the View tab. The option is there to
make the current arrangement the default. In XP and below, the setting
may be global, while in Vista and above it applies only to folders of
that type. Read the fine print to see what I mean.
