Hope someone can help me solve this problem that I am having with
Windows 3.11 (WFWG). I was running Windows 3.1 on my AST laptop
with 4 megs ram. All was working fine. I upgraded to Windows 3.11 by
deleting all of Windows 3.1 and then installing from scratch Windows 3.11.
When I boot up and I am in DOS, the keyboard works OK. But when I go
into Windows, the keyboard is frozen or dead. None of the keys work.
Not even Ctrl-Alt-Del. The mouse works OK. I can run any application and
do anything that uses the mouse but I can't type or use anything from
the keyboard. When I exit out of Windows using the mouse, and go back
to DOS, the keyboard remains frozen. I have to do a hard boot. Then
while I am in DOS the keyboard is fine. Until I go into Windows. Then
its a rerun of the frozen keyboard. Any suggestions? I've already
reinstalled twice already. I've cut my autoexec.bat and config.sys to the
minimum stuff that I think is necessary.

>Hi:
In your SYSTEM.INI under the [boot] section, there is a line that loads a
keyboard driver (keyboard=keyboard.drv). If this line is there, then the file
is either damaged or not compatable with your keyboard.
I have in the past had to aquire a specific keyboard driver file from the
manufactuar to install on certain laptops, but since yours worked before, I
doubt thats the case. You may try copying the old keyboard driver from 3.1,
and see if that will work too.
Good luck.
