I have several postscript files that I wish to print. I am connected
to the Postscript printer (HP III) via a NOVELL network.
How can I use WINDOWS3.1 to print these postscript files?

Since there is no application associated with
these files, the print manager in WINDOWS3.1 refuses to send them to the
printer. If I use "copy file.ps LPT1:", then I get the ASCII contents
of the Postscript files.

Any help or guidance will be appreciated.

An HP (LaserJet) III isn't a Postscript printer, unless you have a Postscript
cartridge in it. Do you?

Even if you have a Postscript Cartridge by default WIN3.1 places a CTRL D as the
first character in the postscript file. (CTRL D is a printer reset). Either print
to a file and edit the initial CTRL D out or got to the WIN.INI file and edit the
printer setup (example follows)

[Apple LaserWriter II NT,LPT1]
feed1=9
feed4=9
EPS=0
EpsFile=prn.ps
orient=1
CtrlD=0

You should then be able to print directly to the PS printer.
