no sound from DiVX video file with MS MediaPlayer on WinXP

Using MS MediaPlayer v8 on WinXP, I can play DivX video files, but there is
no sound. What's the problem?

I downloaded the latest DiVX5 bundle from www.divx.com which include the
codec. I tried to use the player in the bundle, it simply crashes.

I tried another player Global DiVX, again there is no sound.

MS MediaPlayer can play all of my other media files (mpeg, mp3) with sound.
So there is no sound setting problem.
