HELP - Trouble opening file.

I'm running Windows Vista, with Ofice 2007. I receive resumes as
attachments from numerous people. Most send their resume with a name
such as, "John Doe.doc or docx", but I receive resumes attached that
are named "resume.doc". The attachments that are named "resume.doc",
I cannot open. It says:

"Cannot create file: resume.doc. Right-click folder you want to
create the file in, than click Properties on the shortcut menu to
check your permissions for the folder."

The same file can be opened up on another computer running XP. I've
tried everything but I can't figure this out.
