RATIONALE: remove comp.os.ms-windows.announce
The newsgroup comp.os.ms-windows.announce has not had any approved
messages since March 1998. In April 1998, the moderator announced his
retirement as moderator, and requested that the submission address be
redirected to /dev/null. This notice, inexplicably posted to
rec.bicycles.off-road, said that traffic was light and relatively
little spam was received, but also noted:
OTOH, I imagine readership is also rather low; ftp/web
sites and comp.archives are better anyway. Few tears
would be shed if it just disappeared the way it had a
few months before I took over.
HISTORY:
The newsgroup comp.os.ms-windows.announce was created in March 1992 as
part of a re-organization that also renamed comp.windows.ms to
comp.os.ms-windows.misc and established the first 8 groups in the
comp.os.ms-windows.* sub-hierarchy.
Approvals were fairly steady until March 1998 when the moderator
resigned. There have been no approvals in the 9 subsequent years.
