Can somebody explain to me the basic commands of the THEOS operating
system, or where to find information in this respect?

I need to study the possibility to automate the extraction of data
from THEOS to Windows.
The only thing that I know is that THEOS is a propietary operating
system, but I don't find any basic documentation on their commands.
How to find the floppy disk in THEOS to be able to export a file and
then to examine it in Windows would be very useful to me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oscar,

There are several locations for THEOS information - I've assumed you don't
have the documentation otherwise you wouldn't be asking the question!!

From the CSI prompt > you can type HELP, which will display a list of
commands. You can then select the appropriate command, and receive second
level help for that command. You can also specify this by typing HELP
<command> at the CSI prompt.

Check the THEOS web site in the USA - some of the documentation is available
on-line, some as downloadable PDF files.

Post a specific question on the operation of certain commands to the THEOS
developers forum, hosted from the THEOS web site (url below).

As for your query, there are several ways depending on the THEOS version and
options that you have.

The PUTFILE command will place a stream file onto a DOS floppy. Your THEOS
application will have to be capable of generating the stream file in the
first place - THEOS includes ISAM, Direct and Keyed files as an integral
part of the OS, and these *won't* be any use when DOS get them.

The ScanTerm terminal emulator includes a file transfer capability, which
can be used to transfer stream files across a serial port to and from DOS.

THEO+Net is the TCP/IP networking package which will allow you to use THEOS
as an FTP client to place the files onto an FTP server. The THEOS
Workstation TCP/IP terminal emulator will also allow file transfer between
Windows and THEOS.

As you can see, your requirement can be met with THEOS, but you really need
more information on the exact version etc.

If you need anything else, please email directly or check the sources I've
mentioned.

I thank you very much for the information that you have given me.
I believe that it will be very useful to begin.
Then, when I have more data, I will already be able to ask some more concrete
question.
Thank you again.

Oscar Al.
