You will almost never find Minix binaries, since Minix 1.5 ran on
the IBM PC, Atari, Amiga, Mac and occasionally Sun. That means you
need sources of programs written or ported to Minix, which you can
compile on the Mac. The archives are the best place for these, but
the Minix archives are still in disarray from long disuse. I'd
guess ftp.uni-bielefeld.de would be the place to start, but there
may well be others (directory is pub/systems/minix).

I've been out of the loop for quite some time -- have MacRead and MacWrite
been fixed? I seem to remember one of them checking for EOF *characters*
in the input stream to know when to stop reading, rather than checking for
feof(). Then again, it could just be a misrememberance.
