any help would be gratefully appreciated
thanyou in advance,

: I have just acquired an original NOVELL NE2000 card from 1990, an want
: to use it with minix. unfortunately, i don't have documentation and
: there is nothing on the novell website about this card. does anyone have
: any idea where i could obtain jumper settings for this?
I have some old Novell documentation, and have had success using
NE1000 and NE2000 cards with Minix. Here's the info I have:
The block of jumpers marked W1..W8 controls the type of connector
used. Put jumpers between pins 1 and 2 on each for thick cable using
the 15 pin D connector, or between pins 2 and 3 for thin coax, using
the BNC connector.
Jumpers W9 and W10 control the I/O address, as follows:
0x300: short W9 and W10
0x320: W9 open, W10 shorted
0x340: W9 shorted, W10 open
0x360: W9 and W10 both open
Jumper W11 should always be open unless you are using a Boot EPROM
that supports using remote reset (unlikely).
Jumpers W12..W15 select the IRQ. You short exactly one of these:
IRQ 2: short W12
IRQ 3: short W13
IRQ 4: short W14
IRQ 5: short W15
Rev. G or later boards have a jumper W16, which should normally be
shorted, except for certain Compaq protables and IBM PC AT compatibles
using a Chips and Technologies chip set.
The factory default settings are BNC connector enabled, I/O 0x300, IRQ
3, remote reset disabled, W16 shorted.
Disclaimer: The basic NE2000 design has been around for a long time,
with many revisions, so it's possible there are differences between
my docs and your version of the card.
Good luck,

Note: W11 jumper is not used for base I/O address or
interrupt line settings but is included as part of the W9-W11
block. It's purpose is for remote boot capability that at this
time is not supported by NetWare Lite.

Connector Type
To select the connector type, use jumpers W1-W8. The selection
of this connector type depends on the use of thin Ethernet cable
(BNC connector) or thick Ethernet cable (DIX connector),
sometimes referred to as twisted pair connection depending on
cable hardware.
The bottom is referring to the edge of the network board with
the gold fingers that insert into the system-board expansion
slot. Jumpers W1-W8 have three pins each. The bottom two rows
must be jumpered for BNC connector type (This is a default
setting). For DIX connector type, jumper the top two rows.
Notice, the physical location of jumpers will correspond to the
location of the connectors at the end of the network board.
W16 jumper
This jumper sits all by itself and helps to resolve some timing
issues. With some machines using Chips and Technologies chipset
there is a slight bus-timing difference. Microcode for the NE2000
was modified to help compensate for the timing problem dependent
on whether W16 is jumpered or not. This has not been documented
as a problem with NetWare Lite. However, if you suspect a timing
problem and have the fore mentioned chipset, remove jumper from
W16.
