Ok, here's what I want to do:
01) From a running Linux distro (Knoppix, RHEL, etc.) I want to be
able to mount (r/w) a LynxOS-SE 3.0.0 filesystem. Icing on the cake
would be the ability to actually create a LynxOS-SE 3.0.0 filesystem
from the running Linux instance. I believe that the typical LynxOS-SE
3.0.0 filesystem would be considered "proprietary", but has BSD (FFS)
origins. I just have to believe that LynuxWorks folks can do this
themselves via their BlueCat Linux offering. So, can this be done?
OR (reverse the situation)
02) From a running instance of LynxOS-SE 3.0.0 (x86), I want to be
able to mount (r/w) a Linux ext2/ext3 filesystem. Icing on the cake
would be the ability to actually create a Linux ext2/ext3 filesystem
from the running LynxOS-SE 3.0.0 instance So, again, can this be done?
I've Googled around for quite a bit and can't find good information
here.

Either way is not possible. What is possible, though, is to mount an
external file system over NFS from a running instance of LynxOS-SE, or,
vice versa, mount an exported LynxOS-SE filesystem over NFS from a
running Linux distro. And then just copy it.

Thanks for the answer, much appreciated. I still would have to think
that LynuxWorks has a mechanism to deal with LynxOS-SE filesystem(s)
from a BlueCat Linux perspective. Maybe the code has not been
"productized" and/or revealed to the public. Cyril, you seem extremely
authoritative in this arena and I thank you much for your time.
I'm pretty sure there's nothing like that (disclaimer: I do not speak
officially for LynuxWorks). People usually don't dual boot the target
embedded system, and don't develop on it. In all other cases, NFS is a
good enough solution. That's the reason not to waste R&D time on "cross"
drivers.
