I am trying to get a NETGEAR Ethernet card working on this system.
Any ideas on how to manually install/setup a NIC on a LynxOS system. I have
no documentation and the Lynx website has no info.
Thanks, RJ
Netgear makes boards with a number of different chipsets. You'll have
to figure out which one it is and configure the correct driver.
I've killed most of my 2.3 neurons, but I suspect the only things
supported back then were the DEC 21040, and a 3com or two. Not much
else. Have a look in /sys/devices for if*.c and see what looks
interesting. If you're really lucky, sources for the drivers are
under /sys/drivers/.
By the way, a *lot* of Netgear cards come with NE2000/NE2100 cards,
and those weren't supported until around 2.5 or 2.5.1.

Free time? There's no such thing. It just comes in varying prices...
1) I verified the following line in the /sys/lynx.os/CONFIG.TBL file.
I:ne2000p.cfg
2) I verified the following line in the /bin/rc.network file.
/bin/ifconfig NE2000P0 "hostname" netmask 0xffffff00
3) I verified that the NETGEAR card does works in another machine.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

But you may try to see what interface the OS is actually expecting.
with netstat -i (if it existed at this time) it will give you the list
of known interface (including lo0)
nowdays ne2000 board have "ne0" as interface name by default. (you can
check that in ne2000p.cfg file).
can also try to do ifconfig <interface name> it will give you
details on interface. and also it will make sure ifconfig recognize
tye interface name.
Hope it helps.
Does anybody know where the default image for the screen saver is kept and
how to change it?
The command xset q yields;
Screen Saver:
prefer blanking: no allow exposures: yes
timeout: 300 cycle: 10
Watching the X logo move around is boring.
Thanks, RJ
