Go there, there are people that configured it :

I used the SVGA config for the Dell Lattitude CPt.
I updated the X SVGA server, even if I didn't know if it was really
necessary.

Warning: Even though the chipset is listed under supported chipsets on
their web site, when I downloaded the demo the 256ZX chip with 4mb of
RAM did not appear. I also remember something about the Accelerated-X
server would autodetect chipsets, but when I installed the demo it did
not. I did try the 256 chipsets mentioned, but did not get it working.
Now I'm back to using X running under the linux framebuffer device
(which works great, even though it is very slow).

If anybody has gotten their current demo download to work on the 256ZX
chipset, please share some information on how you did get it working,
because it did not work for me.

Marius

I am using the NeoMagic 256ZX on Dell Latitude CPi R400GT with
Redhat Linux 6.1 and encountered the same problem. I have downloaded
the "XFCom-neomagic-glibc-2.0.0.1.i386.rpm" from ftp.precisioninsight.com
but it did not work. I have downloaded the demo Laptop Accelerated-X
from Xi Graphics. Even though it doesn't give me the 4MB video RAM
configuration, it seems to be working when I just use the 256ZX 3MB
RAM configuration.

Now I can run "startx" to come up GNOME. Anyhow, I am not too familiar
with linux framebuffer device, so I am not sure the window environment
that I am running is optimized, correct and with good speed. Besides,
I still want to see whether there is free driver available before getting
to this commercial product which costs $199 for just the video driver
(that's what I see it!).

Please let me know if you have any updated info.

Thanks
Ronnie
