Decided today to do some research to discover why
most of my listed screensavers failed to work.
And discovered that the executables don't actualy exist.
Only about 30 files reside in /usr/bin/.
I suppose the next step is to search the install disks ( UG!)
Has any one else, using Red Hat 9, got all their
screensavers installed.

You need to install the xscreensavers RPM; xscreensaver-4.07-2.i386.rpm
As root from the console or xterm session;
rpm -ivh xscreensaver-4.07-2.i386.rpm

Correct! I eventually did this and the "loadimage"rpm (I think) dependency
which both had checksum errors.
But they installed and all is well.
Next project is sound on my 'reallyslick' skyrocket screensaver.
