I understand that this might be an old discussion topic, but I am just getting
back to Linux after a year away from it (it is very addictive). Anyway,
I downloaded beta3.tgz from sunsite.unc.edu (staroffice beta 3) and uncompressed
it. I move the libs to where they had to be and all of that good stuff. I am able
to start a couple of the apps, but I get segmentation faults on most of them.
I am running with XF 3.2, AfterStep 1.0pre2, and lesstif 0.76. Is this
common? If not, is there something I can do to fix it?
Thanks, Russ

I believe that you need Motif version 2.0 or higher, and lesstif only
complies with version 1.2 or something. That could be causing your
problems.

The odd part about it is that some of the programs die with a
segmentation fault, and others don't. This could be that Star changed
parts in some of the programs to require Motif 2.0 and not others. But, the
entire StarOffice is supposed to have a large common code base. I don't
know. I will play with it some more and then give up.

If you have a real Motif 2.0 it is stable. Lesstif is only Motif 1.2 and
still not ready. StarOffice needs Motif 2.0!

Hope this helps.
