I have an ATI Graphics Wonder with 1MB ram.
My monitor is a 14in Shamrock.
What values do I play with in the XF85Config to change this thing.
What do they mean. Is there a book that explains these things?

Ed, about the best way to straightene out the picture is to startx and
when you are in, open up an xterm. In the xterm, type 'xvidtune'.
xvidtune is a pickbox of sorts that allow you to change your screens
centering, size, etc dynamically without knowing a ton of command to
set the screen straight.
When you run the xf86config script, you will have come across a
section where it asks you if you want to change your video modes. You
select the video modes based on your card and monitor ability to
display resolutions and pixel depth. To change the resolution after
you have started X, do a Ctrl alt +. This will bring you up to the
next available video resolution. To change pixel depth, when you
start x, type startx -??bpp, where ?? is the pixel depth you want X to
start out with, providing it is an available video mode.
