Hi...

Sometimes, when I cat a binary file my Console Font is destroyed
and I can't restore the font by using textmode.
Only rebooting helps...

Or is there another way?

There is a way like "echo ^???" But I can't remember the control-char.

The other (and VERY dirty way is: "echo /zImage" and after the right
output a ^C.

Again: This is quick and very dirty!

If typing 'reset' doesn't work, try
echo <esc>c

Note that before you hit <esc>, you'll have to hit <ctrl>-v, and a little
caret ^ should appear at the cursor.

You can also use "CTL-v CTL-o". You do this by holding down the Control
key and typing "v", and let go of both keys, then do the same again, but
this time typing "o". You will get "command not found", but all of your
output should now be ascii not graphics.

If you want it really quick & dirty (TM) just input a ^V^O to the shell and
hit return.

even though the output is unreadable, I just type "reset" and press enter. That
usually does it for me.

the proper thing to do is to type:

echo <Ctrl-V><Ctrl-[>c<Enter>
(substituting the appropriate keystrokes for those in <>)
warning: if you do this on a terminal off of a serial port
it may (probably will) be disconnected (ie back to login: )
-j.
