I updated to Redhat 7.1 and now my Xerox DocuPrint P8ex does not print
properly.

How do I go about adding the old printer setup to the new print tool
list of printers? I was able to use the Xerox DocuPrint P1210 driver
with Redhat 7.0. How can I use it with Redhat 7.1?

Thank you for your help,

Well, Redhat wanted to charge me $350 for a service contract to help me
solve this problem. That's more than I paid for the printer, so I
declined that option. They also suggested buying a boxed copy of Redhat
7.1 for $39.00, but I already have the product, and could not find out
from them if the 30 day installation claws covered printer drivers. So,
I continued checking other sources.

Xerox told me they do not support the printer driver issue of using the
P8ex under Linux. No wonder MS-Windows is so popular. If anybody had
this much trouble getting a simple printer driver installed, nobody
would want that product. However, with a little testing and trial I
found the solution.

I tried the Xerox P1202 driver, but the default settings only allow the
printing in text mode. But choosing the LJ4 setting seems to be working.
Why Redhat, or Xerox could not tell me this is beyond me. Perhaps they
simply do not know of this option. I'll send a copy of this message to
them and perhaps they can add it to their solutions listing somewhere.

I hope this helps the one or two other people who are using the Xerox
DocuPrint P8ex with Linux.
