Is anyone currently running MacOnLinux? If so what Linux distro?
OS9 and/or OSX? Any pointers/advice?
I am thinking of trying this on an iMac G3 400mhz, and any info
would be helpful!

Thanks in advance
W. Steffen

Then you're not running MacOnLinux. MOL is specifically for PPC-based
Macintoshes.

I have seen info that seems to imply that Ubuntu support it. See the
following link:

<https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacOnLinuxHowto>

Personally I (under YDL) have not been able to get the driver support
to compile with recent standard kernels (2.6.22 upwards if I recall
correctly).

You probably need to go to <http://mac-on-linux.sourceforge.net/> then
to the mailing lists and follow until you find someone with success.
Actually looking further on that site I find:
<http://mac-on-linux.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Installation_Instructions>
Here it appears debian, gentoo, slackintosh, Ubuntu and OpenSUSE may
be candidates.

I used to run MOL on my G4-upgraded pismo powerbook with 768MB RAM. I
was dual boothing Panther and Gentoo linux. While it was quite novel
to be able to run Panther under linux, Panther running natively was not
exactly a speed demon that noble upgraded machine. (The whole reason
I had installed gentoo was that Panther just felt sluggish! Too much
eye-candy, too little video card.)

I noticed on my iBook that tiger was much quicker than panther. Kind of
funny since you would expect the newer operating system to be slower on
the same hardware.

Yeah, I noticed that too even on my Pismo G4 550. Tiger was definitely faster.
