how do i get 2 network cards running at the same time?
i have 2 3com 905b NIC's installed......
one is eth0 and the other is eth1
one of them has the IRQ11 and the other one has the IRQ 10......
now....when i configure (in yast) that there are 2 NIC's called eth1 and
eth0 with the IP-Adresses 192.0.30.x and 192.1.1.1 then the following
happens.....
if i connect only eth1 to the network, i can ping 192.0.30.x as well as
192.1.1.1, but
if i connect only eth0 to the network, i ca't ping any of that
ip-adresses......
whats the problem? what did i wrong?
please help me! :((
thanks

Well, it's been quite a while since I did anything like that, but it
sounds to me like you have some routing issues, and maybe some typos. I'm
not at all familiar with the tools that I'm assuming you get with
SUSE, so lets step back a bit and look at some command line tools
that will tell us exactly what is going on (and are probably used by
yast any way).
Can you post the output of these two commands to the group (execute them
as route):
# ifconfig
# route -n
It doesn't matter what cables are connected when you run them, but both
interfaces should be enabled.
Are you sure that the address 192.1.1.1 isn't already in use on your
network? If it is, then that may explain why it's accessible from the
other interface. The output of the two commands I mention above will
clear that up for us though.

Any ideas?
Is your motherboard okay, it is very wierd for a machine to go through a
series of network cards. It normally indiciates a fault on the motherboard or
you have some sort of power surge running through your network cabling.
