I bought 3 Motorola 56K modems surf in March. When I connect to my ISP I
always get low connect at 24000 kbs or 21600 kps.
Some information :
AT&F&C1&D2\K3S202=32 in chat script
mru 1500
setserial at spd_vhi
crtscts in options file
asynmap 0 in options file
My ISP use Ascend 56K flex modems line.
My computer is Cyrix P200, 64MB memory, Slackware 3.4 , kernel 2.033
I already test all three my 56K Motorola but I could not get a faster
connect. When I download a 2MB zip file from my ISP, the max speed is
1.7KB/s (both in linux and Win95). My Phone company said I have a analog
line. I use my phone line for modem only. I checked all connectors,
phone line, modems, phone plug .ect..
My modem firmware is V1.009-K56_DLP.
I tried hard to get faster connect, but now I am give up.
Could someone help me to get faster connection ? Or someone is using
Motorola for linux help me about init string ?
THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY MUCH !!!!

You might like to make that something like 576.

What were you getting with your 28.8 modem and what brand/model was it? Some
modems are known to display a high initial connect speed and then drop back
soon after while others do the opposite. It's also possible that a slightly
slower connect speed with few errors (and therefore few re-sends) could be
faster than one with a faster connect speed but lots of errors. Some phone
lines simply arn't good enough to support anything faster than what you are
seeing. When testing actual download speed, make sure you are using a fast
site (preferably your own ISP).
As for an init. string, try just AT&F2
