What you probably need is to start a dhcp client on the NIC that goes to
the router. I don't know slack enough to know the preferred way of doing
this. If your NIC is eth0, try typing 'dhcpcd' as root, and maybe you'll
get lucky :/
[hal@cadillac hal]$ man -k dhcp
dhcpcd (8) - DHCP client daemon
pump (8) - configure network interface via BOOTP or
DHCP protocol
(That's Redhat)
Microsoft-speak for DHCP is 'automatically obtain IP address', or
somesuch.

What are you using for the gateway? If Linux, you'll have to set up a
DHCP server. If a commercial firewall box, you'll have to read it's
instructions for setting up DHCP.
