I'm being requested to get some diagrams out quickly, I don't have MS, but, the receiving party is MS only. I
wanted to do the drawings in Dia, but, I'm not sure what format to 'export' my finished diagrams to...so that
the people on the other end with Visio can import them into their system.
What is the best Dia export format for sending to a Visio user?
Thank you,

I don't have M$ Visio either, according to:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/assistance/HP850508441033.aspx
Supported file formats
* AutoCAD Drawing File Format (.dwg, .dxf)
* Compressed Enhanced Metafile (.emz)
* Enhanced Metafile (.emf)
* Graphics Interchange Format (.gif)
* JPEG File Interchange Format (.jpg)
* Portable Network Graphics (.png)
* Scalable Vector Graphics Drawing (.svg, .svgz)
* Tag Image File Format (.tif, .tiff)
* Windows Bitmap (.bmp, .dib)
* Windows Metafile (.wmf)
It seems .svg would allow for really doing something on the file,
if you don't want this I'd simply send some pdf.
After all, there are different versions of visio and there is zero
guarantee this will work out. If it is important I'd check it out
with someone who has if possible the same visio version as your
contact. If he can open your exports it doesn't look that bad.
On a site note, google was able to find the above URL on number
3, while an attempt with the same query on some M$ site just
returned a pile of crap... And how come dia can export to a lot
more and useful formats, taking into account it is version 0.94
on my box and we are comparing with visio 2003? Iirc the export
features are even worse...
Good luck
