Is this a faq? I'm using slackware 1.1.1 at present BTW.
I want to use a NNTP client (chameleon NEWTNEWS to be exact)
with Linux at the back end

Any info thankfully received...

I don't think it's a faq...

Somebody gave me a sitename of where they had a Linux port of nntp.1.5.11

I forget the person's name, but I made it available at sunshine.eden.com
/pub/nntp.1.5.11.lou.tar.gz

Grab it if you need it...

Anyone interested in starting up a mailing list for running news on Linux?

If anyone was interested what I needed to do was this:
1. create a link /usr/local/lib/news -> /usr/lib/news (its what the
slackware nntpd server was compiled with)
2. create a file /usr/lib/news/nntp_access with one line:
default both post (allows full access to clients, may be tailored)

... and thats it! All news downloaded to Linux is then readable by
client NNTP software. BTW I have similar info regarding the mail
client of this package if anyone is interested.

Tim.

The original site was ftp://tfnet.ils.unc.edu/pub/lou/nntp.1.5.11.lou.tar.gz

I know 'cause I put it there. 8-)
