I know cables for keyboard and mouse devices have an approximate
length of 3 feet. However I need a 25 ft one

I think I will need a PS2 Mouse/Keyboard to USB Y-Splitter Cable. A
25 ft USB cable (MM, MF or FF?) and a USB Y-Splitter cable. I don't
really know how should I interface them; what should be M or F?

Is this reliable? What do you think I should do?

Thanks

If your keyboard and mouse is ps/2 you might need something like this:

10 m should be more than 25 ft.

I think it would be easier to tell you what to buy if you told us exactly
what you are trying to accomplish.

Is your computer 25 ft away from your keyboard? If so, where do you have
your monitor? Is the keyboard and mouse connected by PS/2 or by USB to the
computer? If the connection is done by USB you will need an active USB
extender on that distance.

I think the maximum length for a USB cable is 5m (16') so you'd need to have a
powered USB hub half way to boost the signal.

Perhaps you are really looking for something from this web page? I have an
Adderlink X100 connected up to a 4 port KVM switch.

I need an extra large keyboard + mouse cable because I would like to
run my server from a relatively distanced place. I have seen people
using those very long video cables like the ones you can see here
(AVEXT-10/15/25/50/75/100-MM):
~
http://www.networktechinc.com/cable-pc.html
~
even with KVMs. What they do is using one of those long MM (S)VGA
monitor cables plugged to their KVMs through a 15-Pin (S)VGA Male to
Female converter
~
That part, as I remember, works because I have seen it, but I don't
recall how they did with the K + M part. Based on what I see here:
~
http://www.vpi.us/cable-ps2.html
~
I think I should by a

1) $18 : : VVKINT-25-MM : 25 ft : /2 Keyboard and Mouse Interface
Male to Male

2) $4.85 : (+= $22.85) : MINIDIN6-FF : 6-pin miniDIN female to female
gender changer

~
but I am not sure if I should go with an USB cable + repeater options
~
Thank you

You found that web-page. On the very same web-page you also have
VVKINT-3/6/10/15/25 "PS/2 Keyboard and Mouse Extension "Y" Cable.", isn't
that exactly what you are looking for?

Why don't you just simply buy VVKINT-25 from the very same page? With
that one you don't need any female to female gender changer as the cable
itself is male to female.

the thing is that I like to own the minimal amount of stuff I need
(it even feels great!) and since I also had in mind driving a dcam
from as a far a distance as possible I was kind of thinking of using
the same cable
~
Also I do have a KVM, but I only use it for the monitor
~
Thank you and I think I will just do as you told me
