Linux Memory Limitations (was Re: Memory problem)

This is with regard to running RHL5.1. Sorry to have to post it here but the
RHL lists are useless.

In a day or two I will be upgrading my laptop to 96MB, is this a requirement to
stipulate RAM over 64MB? I've only ever had 64MB in my desktop and have yet to
run into this problem.

AFAIK, it is a requirement if your machine owns more than 64Mb RAM.

Try updating the memory and see. Redhat may already apply a patch
to better detect memory, so you won't have to do that horrible
kludge to make it work.

Sorry, no, you do indeed have to add an append="mem=96M" line to your
/etc/lilo.conf. Otherwise, only the first 64MB of RAM will be detected.
