Hi,

I'm missing the Manual for the Monitor IBM Model 6300-002. I need to
give the characteristics to add it on the XFree86, xf86config program.
Can somebody help me? Is this available on the net?

TIA
bruno

Crap.

I wouldn't recommend this....
When I aquired a 19" 6091 IBM monitor, I did this:

> or do a google search

I got the modelines, several more than what the IBM 6091 handbook
originally gave, and now I run my desktop at 1280x1024 at a higher
refresh rate than it ought to be able to do. I used the modelines
given to me, and started experimenting, and eventually gave me a setup
that I was satisfied with. That monitorword site, unless I am
mistaken, gives specs but no modelines. Leave you in the dark (or
v-sync challenged :) a bit :(

unlike tea?

does that mean weak?

yeah, the site doesn't give modelines, but the dude didn't ask for that.  He asked for specs.
So thass what he's got.

You need at this time especially to know that you are fit for
something better than slavery and cannon fodder. You need to know that
you were not created to work and produce and impoverish yourself to
enrich an idle exploiter. You need to know that you have a mind to
improve, a soul to develop, and a manhood to sustain....

We're all Bruce here. Do you mind if we call you Bruce too, just to make it a bit easier?

HHGTTG.

Perhaps I should change this attribution to just show up on the froups
that know me. It seems to generate too much conversation! :)

Specs are fairly useless, by themselves. You need modelines to
actually make the monitor work. The funny thing about that site was,
they tried to advertise their wonderful video card thta could talk to
fixed frequency monitors, when in reality, these wonderful video cards
probably consist of a normal video card, and extra windows drivers. I
know my video card aint too special, but it seems to talk fine with my
fixed frequency monitor. Of course, I haven't tried, and it probably
would fail to work under windows, but I don't use that "OS".

Calm down, it's *only* ones and zeroes.

Ever took the time to read Douglas Adam's Hitchiker's guide to the
galaxy?
If not, I really recommend that you do. It abuses just about every
attempt
to understand the world around us. :)

Well, Maybe.

XF86Config *has* this monitor in its database, and  I have actually had very good luck
stuffing monitor specs into XF86Config's dialog and getting  perfectly working monitors out.

I concede that you are *probably* right that you can tweak it better thereafter.

HHGTTG, yes, but it was b4 med school, and med school pushed everything else out.
