Hello,

I am running Ubuntu 9.10 (the latest version) on a Sony VAIO
laptop which has a WUXGA++ (1920 x 1080) resolution
and have also attached an older SXGA (1280x1024) LCD
monitor to its external monitor port. Using the utility
I access as:

System > Preferences > Display

which can also be accessed by entering the following
command at the command line which starts the
corresponding GNOME desktop utility:

$ /usr/bin/gnome-display-properties

I can see both monitors side by side (unmirrored).

The problem I am experiencing is that from the
"Resolution:" drop down menu

-> I cannot select 1920 x 1080 <-

because it is not available. I am
not sure why this is as on the older version
of ubuntu (9.04) before the upgrade this
was working fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

John Goche
