Displaylink DL-165 stopped working after last updates in Debian/testing

Hi,
For a few years I was successfully using the Displaylink DL-165 adapter to do presentations from my laptop.

Unfortunately, a few weeks ago that stopped working.
When I use the "udlfb" driver, the card doesn't get detected by xorg:

The "Device" section in tha appropriate Xorg configuration file looks as folows:

I have also tried: BusID "USB:17e9:0290"
with the same result. However, the fbset handles the card correctly.

I tried to switch to the newer method based on the "udl" driver, but it crashes the kernel:
