Hello,

my scanner Canon Lide 110 produces only blank/black pages.

Since it was not detected on a fresh Debian squeeze system, I installed
libsane 1.0.22-3~bpo60+1 0 from the squeeze backports.

After that the scanner is detected, but xsane returns just a blank/black
page.

Starting xsane in a shell does not produce any output. Starting it as
root does not solve the problem.

I recognized that the scanner and traverses the page somehow, but there
is no light...

What can I do?

Thanks

Magnus

Yes, it works fine with W7.

I thought of that too, but he said in his first post that he had tried
that.

If I remember properly, and it has been a while, I couldn't use my scanner
until I added myself to the pertinent group. And the thing was, it didn't
seem like it was needed, something seemed to work (though maybe it was
just the software) but I didn't get a scanned page. It seemed at the time
like the problem was somehow bigger, yet adding myself to the pertinent
group got things going.

Strange it doesn't work. Could it be faulty? A couple of months ago I
actually ordered one of these machines, but before opening the package I
found reports on the Net about people getting black pages (not with
Linux). I did find at least one person who said it worked for them with
Sane and the Sane site showss it as compatible.

Anyway, I took fright, returned it, and replaced it with an Epson
Perfection V300, which is fine, admittedly at twice the price.
