Quite simply, I'm looking for a straight-fwd wireless webcam that
I can use under FreeBSD pereferrably, but Linux if that's all that's
available. If I have *no* other choice, then we'll even use WinXP. It
*MUST* be wireless, as in 802.11b. It would be really helpful,
if you've personally used it before. TIA....Jet

I dont have wireless but I have made really good experiences with
Ciscos open source MPEG4IP mp4live. You must have some nasm etc,
but it compiled under Redhat 9 nicely.

Wireless, XP or whatever, there is no really working QoS yet,
the Protocol, so I was told, maybe others know more.

The player (mp4player) is in the ports, but for mp4live you need
video4linux, some special interface, that supports everything.
Works nicenst with the Brooktree chip. Redhat 9 Linux.
"Straighforward".

"UMTS" etc seem to face similar problems. But it may work, if there is
not much other traffic.

Heiko: Thank you for the heads-up. I *mite* be able to make that work, esp
since I can have a really stable platform behind it. And RH works for me, so
I'll check this out shortly....Jet

Joe: Thanx for the link, but I *did* find wireless webcams on my own. I
was looking for Linux/BSD-compatible gear. I've looked at the some of the
gear, but so far, I haven't seen one that has Linux drivers. And if so,
do they work ? I watch the groups and there's a big diff bet gear that's
(Linux) compatible and gear that really works....Jet
