You sure get a lot of hardware for your money, with a HP-mini,
if you're prepared to accept the Win7 software.

After I got DebEtch running from the inserted CF, I've become
rather enthusiastic in using it. Although I failed to install X,
because it wasn't on the original CD, and my inet is expensive,
I was pleased to get the framebuffer version of my main app
[ETHOberon: LNO] running.

Under Win7, when I closed the lid and carried it in the bag to
the library, the power & heat generation reduced, at least
because the closed lid, shut off the display.

Under linux, it heated up badly in the bag, although I confirmed
that the display closed down.

It's 'Atom CPU' powered. And these modern Win7 devices apparently
have smart-software power optimising fscilities.

What about linux: power settings for portables?

Oh! I've just though to try `apropos power` on my Slak13-PC.
You have to start writing to force youself to think of the obvious.
There seems a lot. I hope the netbook uses a 'standard' which linux
can handle, and not a proprietry one, which is possible.

Thanks for any tips.

Try "apropos acpi"; I believe you'll find what you're looking for.
