Does anyone have an Intel Endeavor (Advanced/EV) motherboard with the sound
option installed? Does it work under Linux?
The sound option is supposed to be a Creative Labs Vibra 16S with a CT-2054
chip--claimed to be fully SB16 compatible. I was wondering how well it
worked... Also, there is no manual volume control--only software
control. Drivers are included for Windows only, so this looks to me like
it might be a problem if there are no Linux drivers to support this
feature.
I would be interested in hearing any comments on the motherboard, though,
since I'm thinking about getting it anyway.
Please post replies or mail them to mca...@intrstar.net

Configures fine; works just like a SB16. I'm not impressed with it,
though, because the sound quality (analog HW) really sucks. A plug-in
SB card would probably have better shielding. The EV motherboard is
good otherwise (you'll need an updated BIOS for Win95).
I run Linux on an Endeavour board and the SoundBlaster support works fine.
As far as volume goes I use speakers with a separate volume control...

It works fine with Unix Sound System (former VoxWare). But IMHO the sound
quality is really bad.
So, if you don't use sound regular it's maybe worth a try.
If not, forget it.
