IoT and M2M markets to grow to 290 billion dollars

Forget the PC market, the Internet of Things and
Machine to Machine communications market is to grow to 290 billion
dollars in the next 4 years.
And Linux is there just waiting to pluck the market.
China SoC vendors would have spearheaded this move,
but all of them have shot themselves in the foot with
NDAs covering their chips, and there is not a single
engineer out there in China that knows how all parts of the average
SoC works now despite big factories making tons of profit selling
Android tablets and phones and not re-investing it all
in documentation and NDA free SoCs, because
they know nothing beyond booting Android.
There is move to adopt Ubuntu Linux as the national OS in CN
but critical mistake here again is that all the
chips are NDA'd - so there is no hope for any
engineer in China wishing to port Ubuntu to SoCs
for their government
because there is no information available to
download freely on all the SoCs and for engineers
to be getting on with the work!!!
The China government and China factories that make
and sell SoCs have both shot themselves in the foot
with the same bullet!!
If you survey the SoC producer web sites, there
really is no information on SoCs at all.
Compare that with for example the Freescale web site.
6000 pages of documentation on the iMX6Q and thats
just the user manual ONLY!!! Then you got all the other
documentation on all the other aspects of getting
the iMX6Q quad core operational. Some stuff like
video codecs is still NDA'd but it has no impact on
you having the ability to make board with it and make
money for yourself and the factories.
So the 290 billion dollar opportunity now is in
EU and US, and for the SoC vendors to
really ramp up production of the big SoCs, get the
documentation done NDA free like it normally is done,
and then all the engineers will come flooding in to port
Linux to SoCs and then the IoT and M2M markets will
develop and most of it in EU and US.
