I'm looking for fast alternatives to the .net and java bloatware
patent-pending systems.

has anyone worked with

or

http://www.fastcgi.com/

are these 'living' technologies? i.e., being used
and developed.

from reading the docs it seems they would do everything
i would want in web applications development, and do it
quickly and with the greatest control possible by the
developer.
