I can't enable extended attributes on Ubuntu. I have tried adding
user_xattr as attribute to my /etc/fstab.
I have tried both ext2,ext3,ext4,reiserfs but none works for me.
Does the Ubuntu Jaunty/Karmic kernel lack support for extended
attributes?
There is no /proc/config.gz in Ubuntu so I can't check this either.
I believe that I have gotten it to work on an Ubuntu installation a
couple of distributions ago (hardy i think) but who wants to run that
now?
I have registered on the Ubuntu wiki and posted my questions there
about a year ago but with no answers.
So now I try this group, eventhough I know that this is not an Ubuntu-
specific group.
I find all this really annoying and strange since extended attributes
is crucial for file system indexers, such as tracker, to work
efficiently.
Can anybody confirm the status of extended attributes on Ubuntu?
Does anybody know of any suitable forum for this?
Thanks,
Nordlöw
Nordlöw,
I have this working in Ubuntu Karmic. (See my response to your post
in ubuntuforums - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8552524)
