Ezekiel once told me that KDE has much less name recognition compared to
Microsoft. Well, here you go- FOSS on prime time TV.
If Konqueror was such bad software, then no geek would proudly wear its logo
on a shirt.
Just saw this in the latest episode of "V":

Can anyone identify the OS? Looks very Gnome-ish, but I'm not sure if
it is.

Usually companies pay for such appearances. KDE got it without needing to pay.

Could be a complete simulation. Or maybe it is icewm or joe's window
manager?

Q: Why did the tachyon cross the road?
A: Because it was on the other side.

Looks very Gnome-ish to me, though the top menu is not standard to Ubuntu or
other distros I have played with.

KDE was also used in the making of Lord Of The Rings. :-)
Animations were done on Autodesk Maya.
I know there's a patch for Gnome to get the OSX-like detached menus in
the upper panel. I used it myself once as can be seen in this
screenshot:

I wish OS X had the option to tie menus to windows... or, at least, to have
the menu show up on each of multiple screens. Kinda silly to have to go to
the main screen to get to a menu from a program you have on a second screen.

LHC uses a lot of KDE. In fact, some of the most mission-critical systems out there run
on Linux, Wall Street and the US military included.

Menus at the top, detached from their windows, is the second most annoying
aspect of Mac OS X. The first is that file manager (FM) thing. Annoying are
also some animation, the windows changing size, windows not truly
maximizing, etc.
Mac OS X desktop environment and GUI annoys me to no end. I think the small
differences in behavior from what I expect (and no way to change them, that
I could find) are the reason. The fact that I dislike the Aqua look does not
help either.
If there was a way to change behavior and aspect to fit my personal
preferences and tastes then I would probably enjoy Mac OS X much more. That
said, a capable file manager is an absolute must.
Regards.

It made more sense in the days of smaller and uncommon dual monitors... but
with it is time Apple found a solution for dual monitors.

No full maximize and not being resizable from all sides I agree is a bit
silly.

I use third party software to give me full maximize... but still wish, at
times I could resize from other places than the bottom right.
