And just like that, Linux is dead to me.

Call people "woke"? Linux maker says you are a "moron" and need to
"unfollow me right now".
"I am one of those 'woke communists' you worry about"
Leadership of Linux-related organizations have been been on a warpath --
declaring their hatred for any who are not Extreme Leftists.
Just a few weeks ago the leadership of both Asahi Linux and elementary
OS made some pretty extreme statements about their hatred for anyone who
does not agree with their extremist political ideologies.
Now, in what appears to kick things up more than a few notches, the
creator of Linux, Linus Torvalds, has come out and called anyone who
objects to "Woke" ideology:
"a moron of the first order"
"a f*cking disgrace to the human race"
Accompanied by multiple requests that we not "follow" him.
Here is a screenshot of the full statement, which Linus Tovalds posted
to Mostodon:

This continues a clear trend:
Linux leadership making extreme -- and often quite vulgar --
declarations of hate against anyone who does not agree with Lefist
Extremism. Accompanied, in almost every instance, by a demand that
non-Leftists either do not communicate with them... or do not use Linux
at all.
You'll note that you don't see any Tech leadership on the political
"Right" making such demands or vulgar statements. Only Leftists.
The Leftists in the Tech world are working -- double time -- to
alienate, vilify, and ostracize any who do not agree with their
particular brand of extremism.
This sort of thing appears to be ramping up. We now have multiple Linux
distribution projects, and the founder of Linux, all taking a hard --
and vulgar -- stance... banning non-Leftists in one way or another.
Will we see this continue? Most likely. Now that Linus has joined this
trend, I expect more Linux and Open Source leadership to follow suit.
And that is, most certainly, quite a bummer.
I would hope that we, as nerds, could put aside our various political or
religious differences -- and simply focus on our shared love of
computing. Severe statements, like those of Tovalds (and others), make
that increasingly difficult. Bordering on the impossible.
One interesting side note...
Tovalds stated, above, "I strongly suspect I am one of those “woke
communists” you worry about".
That wasn't just a throw-away comment.
Linus Tovalds' father, Nils, was a member of the Communist Party of
Finland for 13 years -- and was the editor of a magazine called
"Arbetartidningen Enhet" (a key Communist magazine in Finland). Nils
Torvalds was considered to be the leading "fighter" for Communism in
Finland -- and moved to Moscow to become a part of a Communist Party
university.
Linus' father was mega-uber-Communist. To an extreme degree. The
Tovalds Communist credentials were celebrated among the Communist faithful.
Now. I am not one to "punish the son for the sins of the father". Not
in the slightest.
But it's worth noting that Linus Tovalds:
has self-declared Leftist views
attacks any who express non-Leftists-ideas
and has a strong (celebrated) Communist family background
So, when Linux says, "I strongly suspect I am one of those “woke
communists” you worry about"... I take hime quite literally. He's not
trying to make some point about how it might be ridiculous to call
someone a "woke communist". He, very clearly, is stating that he is a
woke communist.
And he really, really doesn't want those that disagree with him to
"follow" him.
