Not only does Skype fall offline ever since Microsoft bought the company.
The connectivity too has degraded and calls have their audio distorted, which has
me running back to SIP. Skype is like WP7... it's a poor man's VOIP/Android.
Microsoft only makes things worse when it touches them, as expected.

Microsoft could never make a good Internet phone. So it bought one that could
and then ruined the service. :-)

I still think the Skype service is good. What I find funny is that the
resident Microsoft Advocate makes fun of the latest techbytes ep
quality, when the reason behind that quality was nothing to do with
Linux, it was either a problem with the Skype service or a problem at an
ISP level.

Ahhh!

Here comes the smoke screen.

Your Episode 55 has serious audio problems so now you are setting it
all up to be a Skype problem.

Let me ask you, if it was indeed a Skype problem, how could you
understand each other real time?

Hmmmm?

Goblin is totally and completely unintelligible in spots and also
why on earth did you release it sounding like that?

Hmmmmm......

Me thinks you are lying.....

More to come later....

<< <Damage control to start here >>>>
I can hear the hissing sound of escaping gas......

I have to go check the surf and see if it's all foamy like it
usually gets when the gasbag on the other side of the pond is on the
loose.

You are a moron and a liar. I wonder what MS will make of your claims
that they are purposely lowering the quality of a product many people
pay to use? That on top of your and Goblins claims that MS are
responsible for all the deaths in the Spanair disaster should make for
some interesting reading by their legal department.

Funny you should mention that.
Yesterday the very same problem hit one of our companies.
And it was not the first time.
The service is utterly ruined.

In the end we ended up using normal telephone.

If it costs money like this, then its
time to migrate Desktops to Linux and use packages like Twinkle.

See my post "Roy Schestowitz and Goblin Caught Lying Again"....

They tried to use some damage control and got caught red handed.....

http://groups.google.com/group/comp.os.linux.advocacy/msg/054da94f30be33db?hl=en

As previously posted, there is a serious audio problem with
Techloons Episode 55.
The sound is completely garbled and in spots almost unintelligible.

Original post is at the bottom.

Now, as predicted Goblin appears and of course blames it on Skype or
the ISP on either side.

And like "magic" within a few minutes, Roy Schestowitz appears with
a "Microsoft Skype Sucks" message, which can be viewed here:

http://groups.google.com/group/comp.os.linux.advocacy/msg/14ea013024b...

So, let's examine this a little and use some common sense:

1. No mention of this problem was made anywhere until *I* brought it
up by posting in COLA.

2. Goobler knows full well I listen to these things just looking for
amateur production so it's common sense that he would at least
mention the errors in the show notes etc.
Nothing, although I expect him to edit the documents and call
attention to it so be ready for that.

3. Both claim it's a Skype issue, but Goobler also adds ISP issue
into it.
Don't they know?

4. If indeed it was a Skype issue, how were they able to
hear/understand each other real time and WHY WAS NO MENTION OF IT
MADE IN THE EPISODE?

That's the killer....And that is where their lies get exposed.

Get ready for the attacks on *my* skills to begin.

BTW you can also listen at 33:00 or so to hear how bad this really
sounds.

http://groups.google.com/group/comp.os.linux.advocacy/msg/e1fabc9e484...

"Do you amateurs even listen to your own droppings?

This tecbytes episode 55 takes the cake for abysmal audio quality.

Example: At 15:20 or so when Goblin starts whining, he sounds all
garbled and it's impossible to understand what he is saying.

The sound then recovers for a little while but it happens again
later in the episode.

Both the High Quality mp3 and OGG file suffer from this.

This is a perfect example of how poor the Linux operating system and
associated programs are for recording audio tracks.

Put these bargain basement Linux / FOSS programs in the hands of
amateurs like Goblin and his boss Roy Schestowitz and it really
turns to crap real fast!

Great job advocating Linux boys!
Keep up the good work and Protools has nothing to worry about!

I've just read the contents of the fbo.gov solicitation RTB220610

The US government wants asstroturfers and with it sophisticated
asstroturfing technology to drown out democratic free speech,
and then hide from those whom it seeks to victimize.

It was point no.3 that caught my eye:
0003- Static IP Address Management

What that means is the same as what I've been saying for a while about
doofi, flatcake and clog are true.

They are not individuals but a whole asstroturfing team
behind each sock puppet.

There isn't enough memory between the sock operators to know
or remember what had been said earlier so you know the
conversations are being typed out by multiple individuals
impersonating each other.
It was notable gaffs by the goofy doofy sock that first gave it away.

The asstrotufing teams had already gone into government and offered them
consulting services about what technology and asstroturfing
practices were out there for fbo.gov to decide what they will
purchase in solicitation RTB220610.

more widespread than I imagined.

Or both. In general, Skype punctures a hole and makes up botnets
which are /supposed/ to improve routing reliability. At no time before
did we have the same connection issues that result in degraded sound
quality (like a band gone missing). Funny that anti-Linux people
would make fun of Microsoft(r) Skype(r) not working right... :-)

I listened to one. It was enough. Zero facts, technically incompetent
and whining prissy voices delivered using a sound quality I would be
ashamed to be associated with. No wonder virtually no one listens to
it. It's laughably bad. The *scary* thing is that by rubbing each others
backs the two morons presenting the show actually believe they are doing
something good. It's like they live in some sort of retard bubble.

I think you will find Roy brought it up on the show, you liar. I wasn't
aware of the issues but since I don't record my end I wouldn't have known.

On top of that Gary you liar, we spoke about it in the irc channel about

The Spanair one is probably the best yet, firstly in regards to it I
don't think Ive ever made a single comment on it, infact I'd love to see
what they claim Roy thinks....I can't even recall what he had to say on
the matter....

These Linux "advocates" have very thin skins.
Just about all of them except the real nutters like 7 who are just
so out there they don't know what's going on around them.

They love to dish it out, but when people object all of a sudden
they cry foul, it's stalking etc.

Pretty sad IMHO.

And Roy Schstowitz is the biggest baby of them all.
