There are people posting constantly in this news group and they seem to be
on a mission to point out in which areas Linux fails/sucks/doesn't
work/crashes/won't install/etc. This is a Linux advocacy group so I wonder
what drives them to use a significant amount of their time working against
everything this group is about. Are they hired by someone? Do they feel
they are contributing to the common good by pointing out why Linux isn't
good? I have to say I admire their persistence and eagerness, but not
always their methods and language. It's this troll lingo repeated over and
over. It never ends, ever.
I got curious so I subscribed to a couple of Windows news groups. I
haven't frequented them in over 10 years. The same thing goes on there!
It's the same kinds of people promoting Linux while telling everyone how
Windows suck etc. I now realize that this must be a certain kind of
people. The same kind of people who drives slowly in the left lane to
prevent speeding. It's those people! Again, I do admire their persistence
and willingness to trash everything good said about the OS they are
trolling against. Often they justify their actions by talking about they
are running the OS they are trashing. That's funny in a way since they
seem to think they are more believable coming across like that.
I am a long time Linux user and have live with the limitations my choice
of OS puts on me. It's not much thee days though. I won't go into detail
here, but it's things like formatting of Word documents not perfect in
OpenOffice, some printers won't work, things like that. Linux is not
perfect. Windows isn't either. So why all this exposure of negative
energy? I have come to the conclusion its all about having something to
believe in. Linux users are people who made a qualified choice and stick
with it. It's a community ever changing, dynamic and productive. Some
people can't stand to see that go on and on top of that be free while they
shell out for their OS. They feel left out and want to destroy it. I think
the trolls in here are misguided and unhappy in general.
This will probably not make them go away. On the contrary they will feel
even more the need to tear apart and destroy. For that I am sorry, but I
really wanted to find out who these people are.

Because Linux loons are lying liars.
A few weeks ago Roy Spamowitz labeled Mandriva "perfect".
A few weeks ago Tony Manco labeled Linux "perfect".
Ubuntu calls their piece of junk "perfect for laptops, desktops and
servers".

We just stand back and watch it destroy itself.
See every Linux forum for details.

There're no more unhappy, angry individuals than dumbkopf Peter Kohlmann and
chrisv, both cola "advocate$" that make a living with Windows but at night
pretend they care about Linux and open source.
Tattoo DamnLiar and Sinister Gidget are a couple inches away from going

Who I am and who you are isn't important. What's important is you all back
up your bullshit claims about Linux and Windows. Few cola "advocate$" can
or will.
One question: Why are you here if the place is full of "lying liars" and
bullshit? You like that kind of stuff, or do you see it as your mission to
point it out and fight it?

Arguing and entertainment. I admit I get some pleasure from discrediting
the cola "advocate$" ^^^^^^^^^ liars and hypocrites.
Why do you even have to ask such a question? You don't think this is a
newsgroup devoted to actually advocating Linux, do you?
Good question. Are you talking about what people pay the Windows license,
or?

Nope.
I'm talking about a place where two headed people, pygmies, and other
supposed freaks of nature misrepresent what they really are for
entertainment purposes.
BTW is there even a Windows advocacy group?
Last time I looked, it was complete dead.
No surprise though.
When you are the top operating system, by far and the one that is most in
demand (see Amazon for details), there is really nothing to advocate.
COLA a Linux advocacy group?
Hasn't been that way years.
It's a Microsoft hate group.
I wouldn't know.

There's a lot of Linux advocacy going on in other Windows news groups.
People announcing Ubuntu releases, how people should switch to Linux. and
how MS and Windows suck. It's the same kind of people who shouting bloody
murder here, but with their hate object being Windows/MS instead of Linux.
Mabe it /is/ the same people? :)

You've been here longer than your posting history shows.....
Not with so many Microsoft supporters spending time and effort here, to
spread FUD, (there has to pay off for doing this) your can't claim a
Microsoft hate group with such a high percentage of Microsoft supporters,
there has to be a logical reason why people spend hours posting here, I
have pondered if it could be a sexual deviant thing, but think; as it
can't be through altruism, that with the attitudes of greed that keep
appearing, you can only reason some were along the line they must be
getting payed.
Jem..
I've been on Linux for over 10 years, but never went to this group until
very recently. I have posted in the Ubuntu group a little bit longer.
I've been posting in Windows groups at times when I have had to use that
OS. I have also posted in some unrelated groups.

Idiot...
Too afraid to think or confront those who appose you so instead you hide
behind kill filters and reply third party.
Grow a spine already Ahlstrom.
They're unemployed American bums who think they're doing their nation a
favor rooting for a criminal gang from their North West frontier. In
fact, Microsoft embodies crookedness itself with the way it does
business and it's tarnishing the image people abroad have of American
capitalism. They see Microsoft as an extension of the American
government and they rightfully fear that Microsoft is allowing the U.S.
government to intrude on their privacy and chains their country's
independence. People want to be free and therefore Microsoft has to
DIE. It's really that simple.
Linux is all about freedom. Freedom from oppression. From Microsoft's
60000 word EULA's and extortionist prices and from the American
government, which feels it's the new Roman Empire and Americans the new
Roman citizens and that it's the duty of all citizens worldwide to
cater to their needs. All we want is freedom. Nothing more. To decide
our own destinies free from interference and cajoling.
> People want to be free and therefore Microsoft has to
> DIE. It's really that simple.
People don't give a spit about software "freedom". And MS isn't going
anywhere - why so deluded?
> Linux is all about freedom. Freedom from oppression.
Freedom from quality. Freedom from professional apps. Freedom from good
games.

So get to coding.
Unfortunately, DFS is a class of loser that can't do anything, so he
spends his days in his mother's basement trolling online while
masturbating furiously to his own posts. Don't expect anything of
value there. You can always put this kind of jerk in your kill file.
That way - the noise fades much like his real persona would shrink in
public at the thought of having to talk to anyone.
Diagnosis: deluded closet troll living in his parents basement. Never
had a date, never will. No one would want to know him.
Good luck, if you need help finding a Bozo filter for him - let me

troll. The air's cleaner when they stew in their own feces.

Roy posts more pro-Linux news around here than anyone. Yes he also

Own is a bit strong. Sometimes I get carried away slapping you know
who. For me he is the worst of the worst. As you coined it : Mealy mouthed
hypocrite.
I do use Linux. I love Linux. I dont love the denial and the lies.
Fact : I tried to install a machine with Debian Lenny today. Guess what?
The installer did NOT recognise the USB keyboard. Say what??
This happened to me when Lenny was "testing" 2 years ago. That and the
refusal to see the SATA drives. Thankfully I was instrumental in getting
that fixed.
I could not believe it.
But more on topic : please, DFS, check out the IDE thread. Liarmutt is

Well, for certain types of work it *will* slow you down. If you like it or
not. That *you* are too dimwitted to recognize that *your* way of doing
things is just one way, and not the only one, is one of your major

Funny that, as I have two 80GB SATA drives in this machine, & they worked

And yet the SATA drives were detected without any problems in Ubuntu, but

Was there a *single thing* in Quack's post was not a lie?
That's a really good question, Dumfsck. I was wondering the same
thing. Your comments show you to be a silly, stupid, puerile loser
who would do pretty-much anything, no matter how ridiculous, in order
to get the attention you crave. Yet ceed asked you a question, as if
there were some chance of getting a meaningful answer.
I don't get it. I don't get why people don't see what you write and
*immediately* conclude "well, this nonsense isn't worth reading" and
plonk you.
I don't think so. Hadron Snot Quark is like his "mentor" Snot Michael
Glasser in this regard: He lies even when the truth serves him better

> But more on topic : please, DFS, check out the IDE thread. Chris is

Indeed, I am not making it up. (And I cannot make it up -- I *hate* lying.)
An IDE takes longer to load and paint the screen than any set of console
apps (although this may partly be due to the slowness of Windows), it takes
up valuable screen real estate on small screens, the dependency checking of
some of them are unreliable and (in Visual Studio, fairly slow), you have to
edit project settings in a klunky set of dialogs and pages (you take a risk
in modifying the VCPROJ files manually), you have to be careful (in
Visual Studio) to edit the Release and Debug settings separately
(at times), it is more difficult to pipe data from one process to
another in an IDE, it can be clumsier to set up automated jobs....
That has been my experience, and, based on that experience, I prefer to use
a set of console windows, tabs, or, if ssh'ing to another machine, screen
with multiple sessions. And I sincerely thank you and TomB for clueing me
in on the -t option of screen.

I wouldn't quite put it that way. It's more a matter of having a pointed
sense of humor. The totality of "Hadron"'s insane responses to my posts
is quite jaw-dropping. "Hadron" lies about almost everything I have posted.
And I'm not the only one that "Hadron" regularly shits on.

I have a formidable background in machine code/assembler and so can
explain how pointers work in a manner which might make it clearer to you
since you are clearly confused.
"Hadron" <h4as8k$ba5$4...@news.eternal-september.org>
The amazing thing about Liarmutt's post is that 2 years ago when I
reported issues with Debian Testing and SATA drives I was called a
liar. BTW, I worked with the Debian team and the correct drivers made it
into the installer as a result. meanwhile the COLA clowns where all
singing from the "me too, works for me" hymn sheet.
"Hadron" <hba2ir$1it$7...@news.eternal-september.org>
This, from the guy who claimed:
Peter Koehlmann and Chris Ahlstrom thinking it's ok to dereference a null
pointer in C after boasting about how their code was "top notch" and
"finely crafted".

Nothing. No flavor, charm, or truth. Just strangeness. And bile.

You just described Spamowitz and [Homer], with Liarmutt bringing up the
rear and Willy Poaster on the "Me Too" float...
Think the parade scene at the end of the movie Animal House.
That's Roy with the baton leading the band right into a brick wall.
They post here.
If you followed the same feckin analogy to its logical conclusion, they
would be christians preaching in a christian church.

I certainly don't bother going to Windows newsgroups to berate people and
try to take down their newsgroups. That's K-Man's job! :-)

Nope. You are a liar, Flatshit.

Huh. Your response to ccretin already made-clear this (obviously
correct) point. Yet Flatshit had to "me too" and make a jackass of
himself.
It's as if he enjoys dancing-around declaring his mental illness.
Please. There's a difference between Linux advocacy, Free software

Bingo!
We have a winner.....
They are right-wing fundamentalist christians preaching in a non-
denominational christian church.
With Willy's what?
