I've been checking the Massachusetts news on Bing the last few days,
and typical among the top headlines are these: "Pervert puts Boxford
on edge," and "Grandmother's body found in pond." Then there was the
story about the Cape Cod police officer who was fired because he was
alleged to have texted a photo of "male genitalia" to a woman last
summer.

Why does Bing highlight these stories, while ignoring important news
like the senatorial special election to replace Ted Kennedy? Because
its exclusive news provider for the entire state of Massachusetts is
the Boston Herald, a tabloid that revels in crime and sleaze, while
often ignoring real news.

I compared it to the local news at Google News and found quite a
contrast. At Google News I tracked "Massachusetts" for my local news
and found...gasp!...actual news. The news was from multiple sources
across the entire state and from outside the state, not just from one
dying tabloid in Boston. There were articles from the Boston Globe,
Worcester Telegram, New York Times, Bloomberg, and more.

What the F*ck is Bing, is it something you get in the USA, something we
don't see over here?

So you're letting everyone know that you're not smart enough and too
incompetent to find out what Microsoft Bing is. You're not bright enough to
find this out on your own so you have to post to a usenet group asking
someone else to tell you what this is?

Jeremy Fisher does not appear to be the brightest bulb in the chandelier.
But, it appears he *is* lazy, so he will make a perfect Linux freetard.

It's the new MS search engine that produces good search results and various
cool output and relevant links - Google will be copying it soon.

Disclaimer: I use only Google, and will never use Bing as my go-to search
engine.

Well, Jeremy, ole DFS gave you a pretty decent answer, while two other
trolls (Zeke and flatfish) show once again why they have no friends.

Bing is Microsoft's answer to Google. Microsoft has been trying to
promote their own search business for several years, and has invested
hugely in it (including buying Yahoo). Bing is just a new name for
their search engine, although they did come out with some new features
and a new interface recently. Microsoft's market share of search was
below 10% and falling rapidly before Bing (the name change) and the
purchase of Yahoo. It may have had some rebound since then. Time
will tell if they can lure business away from Google, which has been
steadily gaining on both Yahoo and Microsoft in recent years (now
Microsoft=Yahoo of course).

I see, it is a USA thing, so do they have national finals and things, is
there an age limit? seems a great idea to get kids fit, instead of
sitting at a computer all day.

I have to admit I have not tried it, I see today that they have done a
deal or tie up with WolframAlpha something I have used and find useful
for working stuff out, or getting information about stuff, the servers
that it runs on is impressive, it has Red Hat as its OS, and Windows HPC
as its Server, its something like the 66th fastest computer.
