Not so long ago, in a very, very close galaxy, I gave a top ten of the
most funny and/or useless Linux commands — a collection of various
(in)utilities that a lot of you commented on, proposing some
additional commands, or explaining their function. Some of these
comments were in fact very interesting and I think that the list
should be updated, taking them into account.

I therefore present another top ten list of the most funny and/or
useless commands, including your opinions and just a little bit of
mine, so that we have a list that goes to ten. Watch out though,
because some of the commands listed here will not work by default and
may require the installation of an extra package.

Maybe that's why the trolls hate GNU/Linux/OSS so much. It is fun,
something Microsoft have never achieved except as 'funny haha'.

should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I
hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be
torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my
conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act
of murder.

Just emerged sl and ran it. Funny!

Did I see troll brains under the wheels of the locomotive?
No, they generally don't have brains.

talkfilters is funny.

% echo "What are you doing Greg Shearman?" | fudd
What awe you doing Gweg Sheawman?

Sounds like Flounder talkin'.

The chucknorris fortune database:

% fortune chucknorris
You know how they say if you die in your dream then you will die in
real life? In actuality, if you dream of death then Chuck Norris will
find you and kill you.

Useless Linux commands for a useless desktop operating system.
Good combination!

While you Linux idiots were giggling and creating useless eye-candy and
freezing/burning windows and a 17th unneeded window manager, commercial
developers were busy improving their products and organizations and
solidifying their market positions.

And being held accountable for their failures or successes.
Something the Linux community knows little about.

The "Linux community" includes Redhat, Conical, IBM, Oracle, Novell,
Amazon, and Google.

Which of them knows little about being held accountable?

Is that your view of what Redhat, Conical, IBM, Oracle, Novell, and
Google have been doing with Linux?

After swilling some grog, Nobody belched this bit o' wisdom:
"Linux" covers a broad spectrum of purposes, from the silly to the
sublime. It's the nature of a completely open product.

Perhaps, rather than trolling COLA with his acidic idiocy, the
self-vaunted VB developer should be "busy improving his products and
organizations and solidifying his market position."

Maybe DumbFor$ure should tell Mokia how to sort out their "market
position" who's windows phones have got just 0.3% in the US.
"Breaking it down by operating system, in June 54.6% of smartphone
owners had a device running Android, 36.3% had an iPhone, 4% had a
BlackBerry, and every other OS got lumped into the “others” category."
In fact "Things get even harder to swallow when you look at Windows
Phone in general. That OS has 1.3% market share, of which 0.5% is owned
by Samsung and another 0.5% is owned by HTC."

Really, I'm not out to destroy Microsoft.
That will just be a completely unintentional side effect.
-- Linus Torvalds (2003-09-28)

Every time Windows had a rebirth I would get hold of it
and buy a new machine to run it on believing that they (M$)
must now have got things right and finally created an operating
environment that could excite, impress and enthral me.
But each time their system got more ham-fisted, more insulting
and more indifferent to the pleasures and interests of the **consumer**.

Windows is like a hooker; they're both easy,
and using either puts you at risk of viruses.

The truth is that the GNU/Linux community was busy improving their
products, while M$ was busy creating useless eye candy,
counterproductive proprietary technologies, and yet more-invasion DRM.
