Hi all,

I have a (possibly stupid) question about Lantastic...

Here's my situation: a client is running an old DOS program (Clipper +
dBase) On several locations, there are 2 or 3 computers networked
using Lantastic and sharing the same database files.

We're working on an upgrade in several steps and the first step is
upgrading boxes to WinXP SP2 and keep the program running.

Now, the original maintainer of the program claims that they have
tested the program under Windows before and that they have seen
occasional DB corruption (lost records, empty tables, etc) that didn't
exist under DOS+Lantastic. I tested this setup i our office and didn't
see any problems. I am aware that these are 'laboratory' conditions
and that problems may occur in the real world.

My questions are:

1. Could the difference in Lantastic and Windows networking be the
reason of the problems?

2. If that is the case, is it possible that running Lantastic under
WinXP (two or three boxes on a location) could solve these problems?

Thank you.

Hi Mark,
Since The only windows program to handle Lantastic network was windows
95..because the of the Lantastic drivers for windows newtorking was only in
that version. similar to Net Bueaui micrososft dropped it form net work
support. Next, the origional program dll in 16 format need to be ported to
32 bit version for the "database program to run under windows xp. If you
don't fix these Problems corruption is possible..under xp
