Hi all

Have a Artsoft NIC that went belly up and need to add a network card - but
seems as if Lantastic (4.0 I think - but OLD anyhow- but will check) only
has drivers for Artsoft cards. How do I go about installing a new 3com card
and where do I get info and drivers? Can I install other new cards in this
old version?

I'm now on version 8, but when I was running v4, I used 3Com 903B (IIRC)

I believe it will also support generic NE-1000 (subset of NE-2000) cards
withe the drivers supplied with cards of that vintage - but I'm not sure of
whether I still have the Artisoft 4 docco..

Well, I know I think I used others on Lantastic 5 and 6 but I don't think I
ever tried 4. Nor did I ever use the Artisoft cards - we had always used the
old 16 bit Intel EtherExpress 16 and the like and I had it running using some
Dlink DE200's. Depending on the age of the computers and the OS's and what
protocal the Artisoft cards used you might have to swap them all. We always
used NDIS and had no problems. Of course this was a few years ago. If the
Artisoft already are using NDIS then you only problem will be finding a card
that works with the computer in question and the NDIS drivers for it.

Hope I helped some.

I have a DLINK DE-220 card - would you mind sending me the network driver
and link lines in the startnet.bat file (and files if possible) ?

Thanks.

Not a problem if you don't mind waiting until Friday (US EDT). I won;t be able
to get to the machine until then but I think I still have it all a machine
although infrequently used any more.

Hi Don, do you need the 10base2 type? I recently decommisioned a
lantastic 5 network and have no use for these cards. I think i've also
got 3 noderunners 10base2 ISA - these were the "newer" version of the
AE/2.

Lantastic 5 had different versions of the redir, but i *think* that if
you use a genuine artisoft card then the license is "on the card". The
system we used had a redir.exe that was called in "internation version"
it appeared it had no user count but had to have either the AE/2 or
noderunner.

Either way, if you want them pop for the shipping and they are yours -
I'll get a better count for you.

Thanks!
